Work Completed on Houlihan/Sid Fay Lot

Parking lot paved and lightening shelter built at soccer fields.

Parents attending soccer games at Houlihan/Sid Fay Fields on Lamberts Mill Road will now be able to park in designated parking spaces and have shelter in case of lightning.

The town has finished paving the parking lot at the turf fields across from St. Helen's Church on the Clark border. The lot also features marked off parking spots. Previously the lot had been entirely gravel with no parking spots marked off in the lot. Town Engineer Kris McAloon said the project was accomplished with extra materials left over from the repaving of Harding Street.

In addition to the improved parking lot, a wooden shelter was built next to the lot for parents and players to evacuate too in case of lightning. The new shelter is next to the lot across from the fields and adjacent to the Conrail tracks.

The project has been a priority for town recreation officials, with the previous lot also containing pot holes and no clear method for parking. Mayor Andy Skibitsky toured the new lot and lightning shelter last weekend to inspect the upgrades.

"The Recreation Commission folks are very appreciative," Councilman Mark Ciarrocca said. "That was one of their top priorities."
