What's Happening in Westfield Today?

From boot camp to a book signing, there's plenty to do today in Westfield.

Kick off the day with a free trial boot camp. Starting at 9 a.m. in , BootCampWF is offering a chance to sample a class before the second spring session starts on April 30.

A will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 26 Sandra Circle. 

students will be washing cars starting at 9:30 a.m. at the high school. The cost of the car wash is $5.00 and donations are accepted. The proceeds will benefi Good Grief. The car wash ends at 2 p.m.

Union County is participating in the DEA's . Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella encourages Union County residents to rid their homes of unwanted and expired medication at today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. During October 2011, Operation Take Back New Jersey collected 9831 pounds of medication state-wide.

Union County Police Department at 300 North Ave East in Westfield will be staffed for collection in addition to various police departments throughout Union County.  For a full listing of participating locations visit http://ucnj.org/community/recycling/medication-disposal.

Professor and Board of Education member  and illustrator Lisa Carletta-Vieites will read and sign their children’s book, 'And I Thought About You' on Saturday, April 28, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. at .  'And I Thought About You' celebrates the relationship between a working mother and her child. It reflects a thought all working mothers have throughout their day, “I wonder what my child is doing now.” The playful images of the mother at work set next to the child’s daily activities, add to this warm and tender piece. 'And I Thought About You' honors the unbreakable bond between mother and child.

Westfield Community Players (WCP) will hold auditions for its 5th Annual Talent Showcase from 2-4 p.m. Each year this event features local talent from within our area.  This year the Showcase will center around a Broadway theme. WCP is seeking actors, singers, dancers, instrumentalists, comedians, etc. who would like to perform their talent based on a Broadway production or music. Audtions will be held at 1000 North Ave W.
