Westfield Voters Favor Booker, Unofficial Results Show

5,707 residents voted in Wednesday's special election for the U.S. senate seat.

Westfield residents favored Newark Mayor Cory Booker for the vacant New Jersey U.S. Senate seat in Wednesday’s special election, clerk’s results show.

Of the 5,707 residents who voted on Wednesday, 3,226 voted for Booker with Lonegan trailing at 2,446 votes. Other candidates received less than 15 votes each. However, the unofficial results do not include mail-in ballots. 

The winner will serve out the remaining 15 months of Frank Lautenberg’s term. Lautenberg was the final World War II veteran in the senate. He was 89 when he died on June 17.
