Westfield May Revamp Liquor Laws, Limit Medical Marijuana Dispensary Locations, Reports Say

Westfield should raise its annual liquor license fees, per state guidelines, the code review and town property committee told other members of the town council at a conference meeting Tuesday.  It also recommended deleting certain limitations on premises holding conditional restaurant licenses to allow greater flexibility in their bar service operations, which could affect five Westfield restaurants, according to thealternativepress.com.

Under the same chapter of code regarding alcoholic beverages, it recommended changing the limitation on the number of musicians who can entertain at any given time from one to five, according to thealternativepress.com.

Westfield desperately needs to update their outdated liquor laws. The restaurants in town cannot be competitive with these old arcane laws. The Downtown Association makes it very hard for anyone to start a new business in town. Make the downtown more business friendly and existing restaurants will benefit too.

Do we have to allow a medicinal marijuana dispensary anywhere in town? Isn't there one of those arcane laws to prohibit it? Also, I'm getting tired of Patch articles that are based on other articles online. I understand that sometimes that's how you hear of them, but don't make readers have to go to other links to read the whole story, just print the whole story and give credit where credit is due.
