Resident Finds Mayor Skibitsky Dismissive to Public

In a letter to the editor, Karen Egert, commented on how she was treated by the mayor at Tuesday's council meeting.

The following is a letter to the editor provided by a Westfield resident.

I find Mayor Skibitsky's tactics offensive. Whatever the issues are that residents may disagree with him on, does not give him the right to be demeaning, disrespectful, arrogant and supercilious. The manner in which he seems to feel it is acceptable to treat residents is simply unconscionable.

He is dismissive of residents , and dismissive of their concerns . He should be there to listen to every resident and to be considerate of every resident's concerns , not just the residents that seem to be in his camp of "good 'ole boys".

It seems as if he is always trying to bring attention to himself instead of where it belongs -- on the residents.

This IS a great town. But not because of Mayor Skibitsky. It is a great town in spite of Mayor Skibitsky. It's great because of its outspoken residents , not because of its dismissive Mayor.

And if Mayor Skibitsky chooses to read a letter aloud at the Town Council meeting that I had written to the Westfield Leader almost a year ago and read it at the close of the section on hearing residents, then he should at least be man enough to give me the opportunity to publicly respond. But he didn't. Instead he closed the meeting and refused to allow me speak and thus defend my position.

That is not what a leader does. That is what a childish bully does. And there is no room for that kind of blatant cowardice and pettiness in our great town. None . Mayor Skibitsky spends more time worrying about his image than he does worrying about the needs of the town's residents. We can see right through that, and many of us don't like what we see.
