PolitickerNJ: Democrats Drop Freeholder Van Blake From Reelection Ticket

Plainfield resident says the nomination will go to a Linden resident.

PolitickerNJ is reporting that the Union County Democratic Committee has decided not to back Freeholder Rayland Van Blake of Plainfield for a second term in the fall. Van Blake said the decision was made in order to nominate a Linden resident on the ticket to assist a party backed candidate for Linden mayor. The only Linden resident on the freeholder board, Nancy Ward, is now a Westfield resident.

Freeholder Chairman Dan Sullivan of Elizabeth and Freeholder Bette Jane Kowalski of Cranford, both Democrats, are expected to run for reelection. County Republicans will nominate candidates on March 27.
