One Way Street Considered for Ludlow Place

Concerns over Y related traffic expressed.

The Town Council has discussed potentially converting Ludlow Place into a one way street.

Councilman Mark Ciarrocca, the chairman of the Council's public safety committee, said his committee has discussed issues relating to the street, including the one way possibility. He said the street, which runs next to the Westfield YMCA, has been the sight of traffic because of the Y.

Ludlow residents have regularly complained to the town regarding traffic from the Y using Ludlow for making U-Turns or to park for the Y. While the Y has a parking lot on the other side of Clark Street, overflow parking looks to streets like Ludlow.

One proposal brought before the Council is the one way street, which will be studied by the public safety committee. Ciarrocca said he is not sure this is the right way to go.

"My primary concern is what would the people on the street think about making it one way," he said.
