Meeting Planned Regarding Ludlow Traffic

Arena works arrange meeting.

The town is in the process of arranging a meeting with residents in the area of Ludlow Place to discuss traffic patterns on the street and surrounding neighborhood.

Councilman Frank Arena made the announcement last week as part of a discussion of the Town Council's on going discussions about making Ludlow a one way street. The Council's public safety committee is in the process of debating a proposal to make Ludlow one way.

Ludlow adjoins the Westfield YMCA and draws parking and traffic from those utilizing the Y. The street starts at Clark Street and goes for a short distance before a left hand curve turns the street in to Nelson Place. Residents on Ludlow and Nelson note the two way traffic on Ludlow, combined with the parking from Y patrons causes a dangerous traffic situation.

Sharon Stockwell, the president of the advocacy organization We Care and resident of Nelson Place, said the Ludlow situation needs to be addressed in order to upgrade the safety for residents in the neighborhood. As is town practice in these situations, a town hall meeting is being scheduled for residents of the neighborhood to address the situation and discuss the potential of a one way street.

"I've reached out and have asked or dates to meet," Arena said.
