Letter: Minutes from the Westfield Board of Health Meeting

Information about all of the Health Department activities is available on its website http://www.westfieldnj.gov/health.

The seasonal influenza vaccination program is on-going. The next community vaccination clinic is at the Garwood Fire House, 415 South Avenue, on October 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Additional flu vaccination sites are scheduled and posted on the town website  http://www.westfieldnj.gov/. In addition, residents can contact Ms. Laura Scanlon, the Public Health Nursing Supervisor, at 908-789-4070, extension 4074, or lscanlon@westfieldnj.gov to schedule a flu vaccination appointment at the Westfield Regional Health Department office in the Municipal Building. There may be a $10 cash fee for each person vaccinated who does not have Medicare Part B. Join us and get vaccinated now, since it is best to get vaccinated before the flu starts spreading.

The Health Department is sponsoring free screening for Peripheral Vascular Disease with Overlook Hospital on Thursday, October 18, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Municipal Building. For more information, please contact Ms. Scanlon.

For the pick-up of dead animals on streets and public property, residents can call the Health Department at 908-789-4070, extension 0. The department will contact the State Department of Transportation to collect dead deer. For other animal control services, please contact the town's free program with Animal Control Solutions LLC at 908-310-1452 and http://www.animalcontrolsolutions.org/. For more information, please contact Mr. Ken Pincus, the Principal Registered Environmental Health Specialist, at 908-789-4070, extension 4072, or kpincus@westfieldnj.gov.
