Yapple Yogurt:

Owner Andy Lin said he was drawn to the 116 Elm St. location because he wanted to bring his self-serve yogurt business to a bustling downtown area.

"It's a great town; the downtown has everything," Lin said. "I checked out nearly every single downtown in New Jersey and Westfield is one that is still thriving during the recession."

The colorful shop boasts constantly changing overhead lights and a flat-screen television. Among his many flavors, Lin said he always keep one sorbet option on the menu to be "vegan friendly."

Yapple also offers a large array of candy and seasonal fruit toppings.

JX Jewelry Exchange:

It's a family affair for the Sahdos who opened the second location of their jewelry business recently on the corner of North and Central Avenues. Their Springfield store has been in business for over two decades.

Elias Sahdo is happy to have his sons, Lucas and Jay, and daughter, Rebecca, helping him. The store specializes in silver jewelry but also buys and sells gold.

Hapi Yogi:

Opened Jan. 2 by Amorette Farella, Hapi Yogi is a two-room studio located above Victoria's Secret on East Broad Street. Offering a little something different, the studio features separate yet simultaneous parent and child yoga classes.

In an effort to give back, Hapi Yogi will hold a community class once a month. Donation-based, the class benefits a foundation or a local charity. The next class will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 and benefits .
