Elizabeth Official Promoted to Deputy County Manager

William Reyes of Mountainside will be working as Union County's new Deputy County Manager.

William Reyes, director of Elizabeth's Planning and Community Development Department, will now be serving the entire county as Deputy County Manager.

Reyes, 39, an Elizabeth native who now lives in Mountainside, said he was "honored and grateful" to the Board of Freeholders and the county manager for being given the opportunity to help "provide strong governmental services and the implementation of policies that will chart a course for County government moving forward.”

Freeholder Chairman Linda Carter welcomed Reyes to County Government, and added the Board looked forward to working with him.

“Bill has a proven track record as a respected administrator in the City of Elizabeth and has strong leadership qualities that should enable him to serve well in county government,” Carter said.

In his Elizabeth position, Reyes  was responsible for the management of Community Development Block Grants of more than $3 million, the Elizabeth Home Improvement Program, and other programs.
