DPW Prepared for Snow

Department asks that cars be taken off roads

The Department of Public Works is prepared for the snow storm expected to hit Westfield over the next day.

Public Works Superintendent Claude Schaffer said that the department has 38 staffers on stand-by ready to start clearing streets when the snow starts falling. He said the plows are on stand-by and salt trucks have been loaded up.

Schaffer is asking residents to move their cars off the streets tonight in order to allow for plowing to proceed quickly and prevent damage to cars. Plowing starts with main roads before moving on to secondary and side roads.
