Councilman Keith Loughlin Kicks Off Campaign With Carnival (Photos)

Loughlin, a lifelong Westfield resident, is pursuing a second term representing Westfield's Fourth Ward on the Town Council.

Games. Prizes. Fortune-telling. Face-painting. That guy on a unicycle. The smell of popcorn wafting through the air and the sticky, smiling faces of children holding half-finished sticks of cotton candy. Councilman Keith Loughlin temporarily wearing a Dr. Seuss-style hat.

Wait—what was that last part?

“Keith’s Carnival” held on St. Paul’s St. Saturday, April 27 brought out the fun and enthusiasm not only in Westfield’s younger residents, but in its older ones as well. The signs and balloons beckoned Westfielders to try their hands at how-many-baskets-can-you-score, to knock-all-of-the-tins-down-with-a-beanbag, to knock-down-the-stuffed-cats, and to enjoy other live entertainmers.

Carnival attendees Dee, Annie and Jamison said that the carnival was a lot of fun. “It’s really, really lovely,” Dee stated. “And the [entertainers] are brilliant.”

Lincoln Mortgage Company representative Mike Coluzzi said that they are happy to sponsor Loughlin, as they are very friendly with him. The company has set up “Mortgages For Heroes,”  which offers zero bank fee mortgages to our Nation’s Heroes who dedicate their lives to keep all of us, safe, healthy and educated. The MFH program is offered exclusively through Lincoln Mortgage Company, according to Coluzzi.

Loughlin expressed his enthusiasm for the event and his overall campaign: “I’m really excited for campaigning for my second term as councilman, and I’ve enjoyed being a councilman for the Fourth Ward… and I’ve been working really hard knocking on doors to earn support,” he stated.

“I can have fun events [like this carnival], but I take my job very seriously. [In the upcoming term] I’ll be focusing on controlling municipal spending, improving parks and roads and keeping the town great and property values secure.”
