Council Candidate Oliveira to Focus on 'Quality of Life' Issues

Republican Third Ward candidate faces Diane Barabas in Tuesday's Primary.

Dear Fellow Westfield Residents,

My name is David Oliveira and I am a candidate for Town Council in the 3rd Ward.  Ever since I declared my candidacy two months ago, I have been walking the streets and neighborhoods of the 3rd Ward and have met hundreds of residents.

It has been heartening to see that Westfield remains the epitome of a well-rounded community, with citizens running the gamut from the twenty-something Hoboken transplants expecting their first child to the senior citizens that proudly boast that they have lived in the same home for the past 55 years.

During these conversations, the underlying theme has always been the same: “We moved to Westfield because it is a safe town with beautiful homes, a great downtown and an excellent school system that will provide the best opportunities for my children.” My commitment to making sure Westfield retains these characteristics forms the basis of my campaign for the 3rd Ward Town Council seat.

My financial background as an accountant and school business administrator provides expertise in maintaining fiscal discipline while delivering the local services that residents desire. I will promote policies that help ensure our downtown remains a thriving centerpiece that attracts both residents and visitors. I will also be focused on pedestrian safety and quality of life issues that will keep the charm of our neighborhoods. These issues are all critical factors in keeping Westfield a great place to live and maintaining the value of our community.

My wife, Anne, and I are proud to reside in Westfield and we look forward to raising our two daughters in our home. I would be honored to represent the residents of the 3rd Ward and ensure that Westfield remains one of the most desirable towns in New Jersey to purchase a home and raise a family. I ask for your vote on Primary Day, June 4, 2013, and I look forward to meeting more residents over the coming months.

David Oliveira

3rd Ward Town Council Candidate
