Codey Reappoints Molnar to Budget Commission

Outgoing Senate President reappoints former Board of Education member to state post.

In his final days in office, former Senate President Dick Codey (D-West Orange) reappointed former Board of Education member Carol Molnar to a seat on the state's Commission on Capital Planning and Budget.

The commission, which consists of several government officials, including legislators, and citizen members, reviews and approves decisions to the state's long term capital budget plan. The group, which advises Gov. Chris Christie and the state legislature, has such duties as developing and maintaining the long and short range capital budget plans for state government, analyzing the impact of the capital budget on future state budgets, developing the state capital improvement plan for long and short range investments, recommending which projects should be funded, comment on on-going capital projects and review maintainence of state facilities.

Molnar is a long time chairwoman of the capital budgeting commission, with her service dating back to the 1990s. She is one of four public members of the commission.

Codey, a former governor, made the appointment before he was officially ousted as senate president during last week's organization of the Senate for the next two years. Codey, who remains a state senator for Essex County, was succeeded by Sen. Stephen Sweeney (D-West Deptford).
