Cake Boss: Stop Worrying About Christie's Weight

Television personality and well-known Jersey baker instead urges public to consider governor's political record.

The star of TLC's hit show "Cake Boss" is urging the public to stop criticizing Gov. Chris Christie for his weight and instead focus on his political record as the Carlos Bakery owner continues to campaign for Christie's re-election.

Buddy Valastro, who gained fame from the reality television show that documents his family-owned bakery's confectionary masterpieces, spoke to The Huffington Post on the subject while at the opening of his new bakery in Westfield.

Valastro, who announced his endorsement of Christie during a Hoboken event last month, has signed on to serve as chairman of the Small Business for Christie coalition, according to The Huffington Post. Valastro told HuffPo that Christie's weight should not be part of the public's consideration of whether he is fit to serve as governor and that bringing attention to his weight could have a negative effect on young people.

Christie underwent Lap-Band surgery in February.
