Brief: BOE Field Grows to Five

Miceli and Silva latest to announce candidacies.

The for three seats on the Board of Education in the April 27 election has grown to five.

Joe Miceli and Jennifer Silva are the latest candidates to formally announce their bids for a seat on the board. They join Jessica Blessing, Mark Friedman and Rosanne Kerstedt in the race.

Incumbents and have announced their plans to retire at the end of their current terms in May. BOE Vice President Ann Cary has taken out petitions to run for a third term but has not disclosed if she intends to run for a seat.

Residents Karym Hoems and Lynn Spadaro have signed out petitions alongside Cary, but have not disclosed if they intend to stand for election this year.

Petitions to seek a BOE seat are available in the board secretary's office at 302 Elm Street. Completed petitions are due back to the board secretary by 4 p.m. on Tuesday to qualify for the ballot.
