Brennan Does Not Address Council

Democrat says he did not have anything to comment on during meeting.

For the first time since the spring, the public comments portion of the Town Council meeting Tuesday night saw Democratic mayoral nominee Bill Brennan remaining in his seat.

Brennan has become a regular user of the public comments portion of the meeting to ask questions of the Council and raise comments similar to his campaign platform. Brennan has said in the past that he needed to raise the questions during meetings because it was the only way he could talk to Republican Mayor Andy Skibitsky. During focused on appointments to the green team, a partisan based argument ensued with both sides debating Brennan's questions. Following last night's meeting, Brennan said he did not have anything he wanted to say to the Council at the meeting.

"There was nothing on the radar," Brennan said. "We have some things coming up."

Brennan indicated some of the things he has planned include the candidates' debate scheduled for Oct. 19. This will be the only time Brennan and Skibitsky will meet face to face, joined by the nine candidates for four ward seats on the Town Council. Skibitsky has declined Brennan's call for regular debates around town.

Skibitsky has taken different stances on Brennan's questions during the meeting. Most of the time he has remained silent, while Skibitsky allies on the Council have engaged the Democrat. During the Sept. 15 meeting, the mayor jumped into the discussion. Following Tuesday's meeting, Skibitsky declined to directly comment on Brennan's decision to remain silent.
