Boulevard and Park Four-Way Stop Almost Complete

New traffic pattern should take effect within the next week.

The four-way stop for the intersection of Park Street and Boulevard should become active within the next week.

Councilman Mark Ciarrocca said the equipment is in place and ready to be unveiled. He said the town is waiting for some flashing signs from the county in order to warn drivers of the change in traffic patterns before the unveiling.

Currently drivers on Park have to come to a stop with drivers on Boulevard proceeding through the intersection. With few stops on Boulevard between South Avenue and Wyoming Street, the street has been considered a main through-fare with cars going through the Park Street intersection. Town officials have said they hope the new four-way stop will improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection.

The four-way stop is one of two main traffic changes coming for Boulevard this autumn. The other is the town's decision to change the exit of the south side train station parking lot at South Avenue and Boulevard to be right turn only, eliminating cars crossing South Avenue from the parking lot on to Boulevard.
