Snow, sleet and freezing rain expected between 12 a.m. and 4 p.m.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the Westfield area as snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected between midnight and 4 p.m. Wednesday. 

The Westfield Police Department issued the following alert via the Nixle system at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday:

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Westfield from 12AM to 4PM Wednesday. Snow, sleet and freezing rain with accumulations of up to 1 inch expected. Hazardous travel is anticipated, especially during the morning commute. Use caution on the roads.

According to the National Weather Service, total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.
