WPD to Conduct Field Exercise at Train Station, Downtown

There will be an increased police presence Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

The following is a press release from the Westfield Police Department: 

The in conjunction with other police departments throughout the state, will be conducting a training exercise starting today through Thursday, April 27, under the direction of the Department of Homeland Security and Preparedness. 

Part of this training requires a “field exercise” that will take place at the southside train station and the Central Business District on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from approximately 11 a.m until 1:30 p.m.

During this time period an increase of police presence, approximately 30 police officers, can expected at these locations. On Monday these officers will be in plainclothes and on Wednesday and Thursday the officers will be in uniform.

The “field exercise” will consist of mostly observation drills with a very minimum, if any, amount of contact with pedestrians; if contact is initiated it will consist of a question or two.
