Westfield Resident Tracks Down Alleged Bike Thief
Plainfield man spotted riding stolen bike near South Avenue and Downer Street, police said.
A Downer Street resident didn't have to look too far to catch the thief who stole a bicycle from his front lawn Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Jarrett Jackson, 18, of Plainfield, was arrested and charged with theft of movable property after he was spotted by the victim riding in the area of Downer Street and South Avenue, Capt. Scott Rodger said.
"The gentleman saw him riding his bike so he flagged down an officer," said Rodger, who added that the bike had been missing for approximately two hours.
Jackson was taken to headquarters and has a court date pending.
