Two Teens Hit By Pickup Truck on Halloween Night
The accident occurred at South Chestnut Street and Lenox Avenue.
A pickup truck struck two boys on Halloween night near South Chestnut Street and Lenox Avenue, according to a police report.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., two 14-year-olds were walking with friends to a Halloween party when they were struck by a white Dodge Dakota, a report obtained by The Alternative Press said.
The driver of the truck, Bruce Trano, 38, of Garwood, did not immediately see the boys due to their dark clothing, and when he did and attempted to stop, he was unable to avoid the accident due to the wet roadway, the report said.
The Westfield Rescue squad treated the boys on scene for pains to their lower extremities and the boys’ parents took them to Overlook Hospital, the report said.
Capt. Scott Rodger was not immediately available for comment.
Also on Halloween night, a girl was hit by a car on Dudley Avenue. On Monday, a 61-year-old man was struck by two vehicles on Central Avenue.
