Three Graffiti Taggings Last Week

Police find graffiti in Tamaques Park.

Graffiti vandals have been out and about Westfield over the past week, with responding three cases.

On July 18, a downtown business owner on the 100 block of Elm Street reported graffiti to their building. On July 21, another business owner on Elm Street reported finding 12 graffiti tags on their building.

The exact specifics of the two taggings were not released in police reports.

On July 19, a police officer on patrol in Tamaques Park found graffiti on the bathroom in the park and in the picnic area. Graffiti could be found on the wall of a park building in the parking lot adjacent to the tennis courts in the park.

Following summertime tradition, graffiti taggings around Westfield have risen, with many being centered in the downtown business district and in south side residential neighborhoods. The taggings have included many street signs on Boulevard and in the neighborhoods surrounding North Cottage Place. Downtown businesses have also been targets.

The has been working on graffiti prevention in the downtown business district, including employing a power washer to remove graffiti taggings from downtown buildings.
