Update: Race Star Station Attendant Robbed at Gunpoint Friday Night

The Westfield Police Department confirmed a robbery occurred Friday evening.

The is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Coastal gas station located at 801 South Ave. near Cumberland Street and Tuttle Parkway Friday evening. 

According to police, the suspect stated that he had a handgun and money was taken from the attendant, though police would not confirm the amount.

An employee of the station who was not on duty at the time the robbery took place said the attendant "handed over all the cash he had in his pockets and the guy took off."

The suspect is male but no other details are known. Police are checking the surrounding area to see if the crime was caught on video.

The station was robbed in . More than $400 was stolen from the attendant on duty. The robber also left with a handheld telephone, presumably to delay the reporting of the crime.
