Seen This Man? Police Say He Robbed a Bank on Rt. 22 West

Police are searching for a man who they say robbed a Capital One bank branch in North Plainfield on Jan. 25 at 12:47 p.m.

Using bank surveillance video and witness descriptions, police produced a sketch of the man, described as white, having a large build, about 5'10" tall.

He wore a black knit scarf covering his face, a khaki colored ¾ length winter coat, black cloth gloves, and a camouflaged baseball style cap with a New Jersey State Police embroidered patch on it.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, caps like these are sold to the public in a few locations around the state.

Law enforcement authorities are hoping for tips. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit is at (908) 231-7100, the North Plainfield Borough Police Department at (908) 769-2937, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Newark Field Office at (973) 792-3000, or the Somerset County Crime Stoppers’ Tip Line at 1-888-577-TIPS (8477) or online at www.888577tips.org or www.scpo.net and click on either “Crime Stoppers” or “TIPS HOTLINE”.
