Police: Power Outages Around Westfield

Police said power out in various neighborhoods on both north and south sides of town.

Westfield police said there are various power outages around town Sunday as a result of Hurricane Irene.

Police said they did not have a complete list of the power outages around town, noting that the outages are all around the community. The outages include neighborhoods on both the north and south sides of the town.

According to resident reports to Patch, areas in the Wychwood and Washington School neighborhoods have been impacted by power outages, along with Harrison Avenue and areas near the Municipal Building and Mindowaskin Park.

A resident posted on Patch's live blog that there are two trees down on Dorian Road and several trees down on Shackamaxon. Another resident posted that there is a river like condition on Carelton Road in Westfield.

Councilman Keith Loughlin said that he is monitoring the situation and urged residents to stay away from downed power lines. In the event of a power outage he is asking residents to call PSE&G at 1-800-436-PSEG.
