Police: Power Outages Around Westfield

Police said power out in various neighborhoods on both north and south sides of town.

Westfield police said there are various power outages around town Sunday as a result of Hurricane Irene.

Police said they did not have a complete list of the power outages around town, noting that the outages are all around the community. The outages include neighborhoods on both the north and south sides of the town.

According to resident reports to Patch, areas in the Wychwood and Washington School neighborhoods have been impacted by power outages, along with Harrison Avenue and areas near the Municipal Building and Mindowaskin Park.

A resident posted on Patch's live blog that there are two trees down on Dorian Road and several trees down on Shackamaxon. Another resident posted that there is a river like condition on Carelton Road in Westfield.

Councilman Keith Loughlin said that he is monitoring the situation and urged residents to stay away from downed power lines. In the event of a power outage he is asking residents to call PSE&G at 1-800-436-PSEG.

Stay tuned to Patch for updates of the storm.

Hi - lets try to crowd-source the power situation - if you have a google account (like gmail) try goint to the below link, click EDIT to edit the map, and indicate with a red or green marker (and comment) if you have power. http://snipurl.com/wfldnj-power if the above does not work, you can use the longer actual Goole map link: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=202341199785488055289.0004ab94cc375bd7955d3&msa=0

Roanoke road power out since beginning g of storm. Trees across Lawrence ave not being cut up by town or utilities. How can electric be repaired without removing trees from major roads? Hard to get to or from Roanoke road.
