Police Blotter: Westfield Resident Charged with Theft from Unlocked Cars

Items stolen range from electronics to bank deposit slips.

A 21-year-old Westfield resident was arrested Monday and charged with a a string of burglaries to unlocked vehicles in the community. The arrest of Adam Krell follows burglaries to unlocked vehicles - and the theft of items ranging from electronic devices to bank deposit slips - over the past week.

Krell's arrest tops a week in police activity mainly centered around the car break-ins.

  • A resident of Barchester Way reported that an unknown individual gained entry to an unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS unit valued at $350.

Aug. 20

  • A resident of the 300 block of Roanoke Road reported that an unknown individual gained entry to an unlocked vehicle and stole a purse and other personal effects valued at $350.
  • A resident of Breezeknoll Drive reported that an unknown individual gained entry to three unlocked cars in their driveway and stole two iPods, one GPS and a radar detector. The value of the stolen items is $600.
  • A resident of Clark reporrted that their car was stolen from the intersection of South Avenue West and Boulevard. The car was recovered and subject apprehended.

  • Cheryl Palumno-Jobson, 42, of Clark responded to headquaters to satisfy a $114 Westfield warrant. She was processed and released.
  • A resident of the 20 block of Grove Street reported the theft of a driver's side mirror from their BMW. The theft occured between Aug. 17 and Aug. 21 while the car was parked on the street. The value of the mirror is $200.
  • A resident of the 1600 block of Rising Way reported a burglary to two unlocked vehicles parked in their driveway. A Volkl tennis racket, a Swiss army backpack and a GPS device were stolen. The stolen items are valued at $330.
  • Stuart Geller, 61, of Westfield was arrested at police headquarters on a Westfield warrant. He posted bail and was released.
  • A resident of the 900 block of Lawrence Avenue reported a burglary to an unlocked vehicle while it was parked either on the 900 block of Lawrence Avenue or the 200 block of North Avenue East. A black Kenneth Cole wallet containing $35 in cash, a $50 American Express gift card, a $25 American Express gift card and a college id. The wallet was found empty.

Aug. 22

  • A resident of the 900 block of Roanoke Road reported a burglary to an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. A GPS and charger valued at $150 were reported stolen.
  • Lauren Weiss, 41, of Westfield was arrested for DWI during a motor vehicle stop on Summit Avenue near Beechwood Place. She was transported to headquarters, processed and released.

Aug. 23

  • Quentel Mciner, 25, of Carteret was arrested on South Avenue and Windsor on  a $459 Newark warrant and four East Orange warrants totaling $1,552. He was turned over to the East Orange police.
  • Adam Krell, 21, of Westfield was arrested on a $105 Dealboro warrant and criminal attempted burglary to motor vehicles, tied to a number of vehicle burglaries in the town. He was held on $25,000 bail with no 10-percent and the Dealboro warrant bail in cell one.
  • A resident of the 0-100 block of Barchester Way reported a burglary to an unlocked car parked in the driveway. Bank deposit slips were stolen.

Aug. 24

  • A resident of the 100 block of Winchester Way reported a burglary to an unlocked vehicle parked in their driveway. Fifteen blank Citibank checks and a a black vinyl checkbook were reported stolen.

Aug. 26

  • Miguel Carinhas, 29, was arrested at police headquaters on a $178 warrant. He was processed and released.
  • Alexis Gonzalez, 25, of Plainfield was arrested on Westfield and Scotch Plains warrants. She posted bail and was released.
