Police Blotter: Warrant Arrests, Shoplifter Dominate Week

A look at police activities this week.

The police department has been busy with a variety of activities over the course of the week.

Jan. 13

Oscar Naranjo, 30, of Cranford was arrested in the area of 210 South Avenue West on an outstanding no bail warrant from the sheriff of Union County. He was stopped by officers with knowledge of the sheriff's warrant. An investigation showed three additional warrants from Elizabeth totaling $450. He was transported to the sheriff's office.

Jan. 14

Francisco Vega, 60, of Plainfield was arrested on South Avenue West and Tuttle Parkway during a motor vehicle stop for a $113 warrant from Totowa.

Isaiah Gaines, 37, of Elizabeth was arersted in the area of 600 South Avenue West on a $200 Plainfield warrant.

Michael DeFazio, 24, of Westfield was arrested for shoplifting from Lord & Tailor. He was processed and released

Nathanil Obdo, 42, of Cranford was arrested on warrants form Clifton and Bayonne totaling $89. He posted bail.

A residents turned in a motor vehicle with personal identification attached. An attempt was made to contact the owner. The property is being stored in the police department.

A resident turned into a brown Fossil wallet found in the street by 670 Boulevard. The wallet contained personal identification and currency. An unsuccessful attempt was made to contact the owner and the wallet was secured in the police locker.

Jan. 15

Arit Welcher, 31, of Elizabeth was arrested on East Broad Street and St. Paul Street for posession of known false documents (an insurance card) during a motor vehicle stop. He was given a summons.

Georgie Kiely, 36, of Summt was arrested on warrants from Westfield and Maplewood.

Jan. 16

Danny Dacosts, 29, of Elizabeth was arrested on 200 warrants in the area of the 500 block of South Avenue West following a motor vehicle stop. The warrants were $533 from Union Beach and $250 from Belmar.

Jan. 17

Herbet K. Franier Jr., 64, of Westfield turned himself into the police to satisfy a $175 Westfield warrant.

Kevin Anderson, 22, of Westfield was arrested after a motor vehicle stop on $99 Westfield warrant.

Darris Martin, 18, of Elizabeth was arrested after a motor vehicle stop on a $114 Mt. Laurel warrant.

Jan. 18

Edward Friedman, 46 of Lincoln Park satisfied a $91 Westfield warrant at the police station.
