Police Blotter: Warrant Arrests and Stolen WHS IPod Mark Week

Police active in warrant arrests.

The Westfield Police have been active in the last week in arrests for outstanding warrants from Westfield and other jurisdictions. Westfield High School suffered its second theft this past week with an IPod being stolen.

Sept. 22

  • Kendell Shephard, 23, of Kenilworth was arrested on the 600 block of Springfield Avenue on a $500 Westfield warrant. He posted bail and was released.
  • Raymon Gigl, 18, of Bridgewater was arrested at a motor vehicle stop on a $91 warrant from Clark.

  • Keith Johnson of Plainfield as arrested after being a passenger in a motor vehicle stop. He was found to have arrest warrants from Union Township and Plainfield. He was processed in Westfield and transported to Plainfield.
  • Laurie M. Grinka, 50, of Kenilworth was arrested following a motor vehicle stop at South Avenue and Windsor for two warrants totaling $181 from Kenilworth.

Sept. 25

  • Michael Solomon, 32, of Westfield was arrested on the 300 block of South Avenue East for possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Khalis Woods of Irvington was arrested on a warrant from Irvington.

  • Meroh Yavaz, 24, of Westfield was arrested on an Elizabeth warrant totaling $250 following a motor vehicle stop.
  • Anthony Luma of Aberdeen was arrested at a motor vehicle stop for equipment failure on a Cranford warrant. He was a passenger in the car that was stopped.

Sept. 27

  • A resident of the 200 block of Prospect Street reported that his car was damaged as the apparent result of criminal mischief. The driver's side mirror was smashed with an unknown object and could not operate.
  • A resident of Settlers Lane reported the theft of an IPod valued at $400 from a gym bag at Westfield High School.
  • Ashley Cosentino, 18, of Toms River was arrested at a motor vehicle stop for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
