Police Blotter: Stolen Blackberry and Routine Arrests Mark Police Activity

A look at the week in crime.

Routine warrant arrests and DWI dominated police activity in the week. Police also responded to a report of a Blackberry being stolen from a business in the downtown retail district. Here is a look at police activity.

June 3

  • Eric Lopez, 25, of North Plainfield was arrested on a $106 Westfield traffic warrant during a motor vehicle stop in Scotch Plains. He posted bail.
  • A Clark resident reported the theft of a Verizon Blackberry from a business on the 200 block of East Broad Street. The resident said they put the phone down a minute and it disappeared. It is valued at $450.

June 4

  • Daniel Carmo, 20, of Linden was arrested on a $750 Westfield warrant. He posted bail.
  • Martin Ellish, 31, of Roselle Park was arrested at police headquarters on a court warrant. He posted bail.

June 5

  • Neil Kromez, 24, of Westfield was arrested for DWI during a motor vehicle stop on the 300 block of Woodland. He was transported to headquarters.

June 8

  • Akeem Noray, 19, of Westfield was arrested on at the Ocean County Jail on a court warrant. He was held on $2,500 bail.
  • Gary Albert Sweet, 34, of Rahway was arrested at Cambridge and Central during a motor vehicle stop for hindering his own apprehension. He was released.
  • Edward Nugent III, 18, of Westfield was arrested on the 700 block of Prospect Street on the strength of a Westfield court warrant. He posted $145 bail.
