Police Blotter: September 19 - 24, 2012

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Septemeber 19 – A resident of the 1100 block of Boynton Avenue reported that damage had been done to their vehicle while it was parked and unoccupied. Suspect(s) bent the windshield wiper, causing about $200 in damage.

September 21 – Police recovered from Tamaques Park a tan laptop bag. The bag was located in the park’s picnic area.

September 22 – Elijah Beverly, 22, of South Plainfield, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $500. Beverly was picked up from Passaic County Jail, transported to headquarters and processed. Further investigation revealed that he had another outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by Fanwood Municipal Court in the amount of $89. Beverly was unable to posted bail and was turned over to Union County Jail.

A Scotch Plains resident reported the theft of a light blue trek mountain bike, black helmet and lock from the 1000 block of W. South Avenue. The bike was stolen between 2:20 and 3:10 p.m. while it was left unattended in front of a business. The total value of the stolen property is about $395.

A resident of the 400 block of Kimball Avenue reported a burglary/theft to their residence between Sept. 19 and Sept. 21 Unknown suspect(s) removed a padlock from a door, gained entry to the residence and removed a box of 30 Christmas decorations. The total value of the stolen property is about $200.

A resident of the 700 block of Embree Crescent reported a burglary/theft to their motor vehicle while parked in roadway in front of the residence. Unknown suspect(s) entered the unlocked vehicle, removed matches and threw them all over the street.
