Police Blotter: Over $9,000 in Jewelry Stolen in Burlgary

A look at a week of police activity.

A reported burglary resulting in the theft of over $9,000 in jewelry dominated police activity in a week that included routine warrant and alcohol related arrests.

July 24

  • Zachary Miller, 18, of Clark was arrested on the 700 block of South Avenue West for underage possession of alcohol, possession of under 50 grams of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop. He was released with a summons.

  • Joseph Pintaro, Jr., 42, of Cranford was arrested at the Bayonne police department on a $1,000 West Windsor warrant, a $1,000 Sayreville warrant, a $750 Milltown warrant and a $677 East Brunswick warrant. He was held in lieu of bail and transported to the county jail.
  • Hassien Cody, 49, of Jersey City was arrested on the 300 block of South Avenue West for shoplifting. He was released with a summons.

July 27

  • A resident of the 200 block of Livingston Street reported a burglary with the theft of $9,375 in jewelry. The burglary occurred between July 20 and July 27.

  • Benjamin Carter, 31, of Westfield was picked up at the Garwood police department on a $500 Westfield traffic warrant. He was processed and released.
  • Ralph Rontondo, 19, of Westfield was arrested on a $443 Westfield traffic warrant, a $411 Cranford traffic warrant and a $89 Scotch Plains traffic warrant. He was held in cell one in lieu of bail.
  • Gillian Pszenica-Scorcia, 24, of Westfield was arrested for DWI after an investigation on the 100 block of West Dudley. She was processed and released.
  • A fraud was reported on the 700 block of Embree Crescent.
  • Tyle Murphy, 21, of Newark was arrested on the 100 block of Central Avenue for theft by deception.
