Police Blotter: More than $16K in Jewelry Stolen From Westfield Ave. Home

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

June 12 - Angel Franco, 24, was arrested at Somerset County Jail on the strength of an ATS warrant issued by Westfield Municipal Court. Franco was held in default of $1,500 bail pending a court appearance on June 13. 

June 13 - Report of a theft of approximately $16,875 in jewelry and $200 cash from a residence on the 600 block of Westfield Avenue. 

John Interrante, 29, was arrested for attempted burglary and hindering apprehension at Downer Street and Osborne Avenue. Officers responded to the area following a 911 call reporting that the suspect was attempting to gain access to the residence on the 500 block of Downer Street. At police headquarters, a no-bail warrant out of Somerset County was found for Interrante. He was also wanted on warrants issued out of Somerville, Trenton and Florida (burglary of a dwelling). Interrante was turned over to Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

June 14 - A resident reported the theft of property and including the unauthorized use of his/her vehicle. The victim reported that a Toshiba laptop ($475), $100 in coins and a bottle of prescription pills were missing. The victim also reported that his vehicle was damaged and he believes it was used in his absence.

June 15 - Kevin Looby, 44, of Scotch Plains, was arrested for driving while intoxicated pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at East Broad Street and Mountain Avenue. Looby was released to a sober adult.

Collins Kusi, 21, of Roselle, was arrested at South Avenue and Sussex Street on an outstanding COC warrant out of Seaside Park. Kusi was released on his own recognizance. 

After being stopped for a motor vehicle violation, Sinclair Shalp of Edison was arrested on outstanding warrants out of North Wildwood and Edison. Shalp was processed and released. 

Ralph Rotondo, 21, was arrested on an outstanding Westfield warrant. Rotondo was processed and released. 

June 16 - Pamela Rivers, 47, of Scotch Plains, responded to the Westfield Police Department to satisfy an active traffic warrant. She was processed and released after posting $120 bail. 

A resident of the 600 block of Ripley Place reported the attempted burglary of their residence. The victim stated that suspect(s) attempted to gain entry through a rear window by force, causing damage. The incident is believed to have occurred between 5:30 and 6:42 p.m. on June 16. Entry was not gained and nothing was reported stolen. The incident is under investigation. 

June 18 - Jean Badette, of Dumont, responded to the Westfield Police Department to satisfy an active traffic warrant. Badette was processed and released after posting $114 bail.
