Police Blotter: Handgun, Mercedes Stolen in Separate Incidents

A look at the week in police activity.

In separate incidents, residents reported the theft of a handgun and a Mercedes from their homes in the past week. Both matters are under investigation by Westfield police.

Dajon E. Semidey, 27, of Maplewood was arrested on a $377 Scotch Plains warrant and a $308 Maplewood warrant following a motor vehicle stop at North Avevnue and Clark Street.

March 24

Jason Johnson of Plainfield was arrested at police headquarters on a $704 Westfield warrant and a $120 Plainfield warrant. He was taken to the Union County jail in lieu of bail.

March 27

Nicholas Hawkins, 20, of Westfield came to police headquarters to satisfy a $350 Westfield warrant.

A resident of Roger Avenue reported that an unknown actor gained entry to his home and stole a handgun. There were no signs of forced entry.

March 28

Marquise Jones, 27, of Union Township was arrested during a traffic stop at North and Central on a $5000 Jersey City warrant. He posted bail.

March 29

Florence Kent, 55, of Plainfield was arrested for hindering apprehension after a motor vehicle stop at North and St. Paul. She was also arrested on a $900 Pemberton warrant, a $575 Plainfield warrant, a $89 Mount Holly warrant and a no bail warrant from the sheriff of Burlington County. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and placed in cell one in lieu of bail. Bail was set at $2500 with no ten-percent and she was transported to the Union County jail.

A resident of the 100 block of Gallowae Avenue reported the theft of their Mercedes while it was parked in front of their residence, near the intersection with Scudder Road. The incident occurred between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. The car is described as a blue four-door Mercedes GL4, valued at $65,000.

Ashlee Christmas, 22 of Scotch Plains was arrested on a $500 Garwood warrant. She was taken to the Garwood police.

Lindsay Hickman, 22, of Scotch Plains was arrested on a $89 Fanwood warrant. She was processed, posted bail and was released.
