Police Blotter: Gas Cans, Generator and Car Stolen

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Oct. 25: A gray-colored Harro bicycle, valued at $600, was reported stolen from a bicycle rack at Westfield High School on Dorian Road after a suspect cut the chain lock.

A blue and gray 2009 Trek 9200 bicycle was reported stolen from a bicycle rack at the southside of the Westfield train station. Its approximate value is $1,700.

Oct. 26: JoAnne Kalnins, 41, of Cranford was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue in Garwood. She was released to a responsible adult.

Neil Curcio, 21, of Clark and Amanda Bowman, 21, of Moonachie were arrested following a motor vehicle stop at Putnam and Oak Avenues on charges of pos- session of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS)/less than 50 grams of suspected marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released on their own recognizance with summonses.

Oct. 28: Three residents of Boulevard reported that one or more unknown suspect(s) damaged their motor vehicles, which were parked in the roadway. Side mirrors were pulled off each of the vehicles. Two of the incidents occurred on the 1000 block of Boulevard, while a third incident took place on the 900 block.

Oct. 31: Rafael Concepcion, 60, of Irvington was arrested at Central and Elizabeth Avenues and charged with theft of services from a business on the 300 block of Windsor Avenue. Concepcion was issued a summons for the offense and released.

Nov. 2: Two full gas cans were reported stolen from the backyard of a residence on the 600 block of Shackamaxon Drive between midnight and 7 a.m. Nov. 2. The cans were valued at $20.

Nov. 3: A resident of the 700 block of Shadowlawn Drive reported the theft of five gallons of gas from his generator. The theft was valued at $20.

A resident of the 100 block of Sandra Circle reported that an unknown suspect(s) attempted to gain entry to his gas tank by prying open the gas cap. This resulted in approximately $100 in damage to the victim’s motor vehicle. 

Nov. 8: A business in the 300 block of E. South Ave. reported the theft of a black Apple iPad with a black leather cover, valued at $650. The theft occurred between Nov. 3 and Nov. 8.

A resident from the 1100 block of Boynton Ave. reported the theft of approximately $5,000 worth of assorted jewelry from their motor vehicle. The theft is believed to have occurred between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 and there were no signs of damage to the vehicle.

A Cranford resident found a green Apple iPod in Westfield municipal lot #1. The item was turned into the Westfield Police Department and secured for safekeeping.

A resident in the 100 block of W. Dudley Ave. reported the theft of approximately $3,000 worth of assorted jewelry from their residence. The theft occurred between Oct. 8 and Nov. 8 and there were no signs of a burglary to the residence.

Nov. 9: A resident from the 500 block of Wychwood Rd. reported damage to their home caused by eggs that were thrown at the residence overnight. The total value of the damage was unknown at the time of the report.

Nov. 10: A resident reported the theft of her 2008 Nissan from outside her residence on 600 block of Downer St. between 11 p.m. on Nov. 9 and 7:15 a.m. Nov. 10. The approximate value is $19,000.

A U.S. government agency reported the theft of a generator and criminal mischief to a fence in the 500 block of Rahway Ave. Unknown suspect(s) cut holes in the fence, causing an estimated $2,000 worth of damage and then stole a generator valued at $9,922.25. The generator is a green colored Fermont, 3 Kilowatt. 

Nov. 11: Jose Placencia Jr., 24, of Union was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop at W. South Ave. and Summit Ave. He was released to a sober adult.

Nov. 12: Brandon Coy, 20, of Plainfield was arrested for the following offenses: possession of controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of CDS in his motor vehicle. He was released on his own recognizance with a court date of Nov. 15, 2012.
