Police Blotter: Federal Immigration Officials Contacted After Westfield Arrest

A look at the week in police activity.

An arrest by Westfield police Friday could lead to a deportation hearing. An investigation into an Elizabeth resident arrested following a motor vehicle stop brought a federal warrant for being in the country illegally.

Feb. 11

A resident on the 0-100 block of Manitou Circle reported the theft of an envelope containing a personal check valued at $2,775.38 after it was mailed from the Westfield Post Office. The receiver of the envelope advised the resident that he received the envelope but it did not contain a check. The matter is under investigation.

Jennifer McCarthy-Higgins, 38, of Westfield was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle stop on Elmer and Lenox. She was transported to headquarters, processed and released.

Krystyna Kowolewski, 64, of Matawan was arrested for shoplifting at Lord and Taylor. She was processed and released.

Wilson Gill III, 40, of Westfield was arrested on a $300 Ocean Township warrant following a motor vehicle stop at South and Cacciola. He was processed and released.

A resident of the 100 block of Elm Street reported a burglary that occurred between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The suspect entered the house by unknown means and removed $10,815 in jewelry, computer equipment, electronics and cash. The point of entry and exit is unknown. There was no forced entry.

Feb. 13

Rayciome Scott, 34, of Bloomfield was arrested at South and Hurt for warrants from Newark and Scotch Plains. He was processed and released.

Martin Spector, 58, of Westfield was arrested during a traffic stop for a $165 Elmwood Park traffic warrant. He posted bail and was released.

Feb. 14

Jordan Lowe, 23, of Plainfield was arrested at the Scotch Plains police department on a $500 Westfield warrant. He posted bail and was released.

Yuel Petcoye, 40, of Elizabeth was arrested at South and Crossway for a $380 Elizabeth warrant. He was processed and released.

Feb. 17

Gavin Flagier, 19, of Elizabeth was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana following an investigation on the 1500 block of Lamberts Mill Road. He was processed and released.

Rebecca Rodriguez, 44, of Clark was arrested on the 900 block of South Avenue during a motor vehicle stop for a Perth Amboy warrant. She was processed and released.

Feb. 18

Jason Tuite, 25, of Staten Island, NY was arrested on a $164 Westfield warrant at the East Brunswick police department.

David Franco-Jaramillo, 27, of Elizabeth was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on the 300 block of South Avenue for using a forged government document, specifically a forged Social Security identification card. Bail was set at $5000. Franco-Jaramillo was also found to have outstanding warrants from Linden in the amount of $415, Elizabeth in the amount of $733 and Newark in the amount of $500. A further investigation showed that there was an I.C.E. warrant was issued for Franco-Jaramillo on charges of being in the United States illegally. He was taken into custody by federal immigration agents.

Dwayne Chisholm, 47, of Newark was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue at the Scotch Plains border. He was charged for hindering apprehension, along with providing officers with a false name and Social Security number. Bail was set at $2500. He was also held on a no bail fugitive inter-state warrant for possession of a firearm from Pennsylvania. He also was held on warrants from East Orange in the amount of $1604, Union Township in the amount of $600, Passaic in the amount of $750, Newark in the amount of $5000, Newark in the amount of $850, Springfield in the amount of $750, New Providence in the amount of $450 and Plainfield in the amount of $360.
