Police Blotter: Drug Arrests Dominate Criminal Activity

Car stolen from Enterprise Car Rental, two bikes stolen within 20 minutes of each other.

June 8

  • Abraham Garcia, 31, of Plainfield was arrested on the south side of the train station for possession of forged government documents. Police responded after receiving a complaint of a suspicious person at the train station.
  • Sharon Ortiz of Elizabeth was arrested on an Elizabeth court warrant following a motor vehicle stop in Westfield. Ortiz paid an $83 bail and her court date has not been set.
  • James Grant was arrested by Westfield police after being detained by Port Authority police on an outstanding Westfield court warrant in the amount of $488. He is being held in the Union County jail.

June 6

  • Kyla Logavy of Livingston was arrested at the intersection of Fourth Street and Summit Avenue during a motor vehicle stop for possession of a legal drug without a valid prescription. Logavy was in possession of two Oxycodone pills.
  • Kizmaar Grell, 23, of Laurelton, NY, was arrested for DWI at the intersection of Wychwood Road and East Broad Street. He was held at the municipal jail until a sober adult arrived to claim him.
  • Lindsay Pomro, 21, of West Chester, PA, was arrested at the intersection of W. Broad Street and Westfield Avenue in Scotch Plains following a motor vehicle stop. She was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

  • Ravin Swahri of Westfield was arrested on a Scotch Plains warrant.
  • Edward Pipkin, 44, of Paterson and Dupree Grayson, 34, of Paterson were arrested following a motor vehicle stop at Springfield Avenue and Mill Lane. The driver was driving with a suspended license. Pipkin and Grayson were released on bail.

June 4

  • Melvina Knight, 43, of Elizabeth was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant from the Westfield court. Bail was set at $500 and Knight was sent to the Union County jail.

  • Jesse Brooks of Scotch Plains was arrested during a motor vehicle stop for possession of drug paraphernalia.

June 2

  • Andrew Stanley of Linden was arrested on the 1300 block of Boynton on an outstanding criminal warrant from Cranford.
  • Freddie Perez, Jr., of Perth Amboy was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on an outstanding warrant from Perth Amboy.
  • Pamela Clements of Colonia was arrested at a motor vehicle stop on a warrant from New Providence. Clements was released after paying $55 in bail.
  • Enterprise Car Rental on North Avenue East reported the theft of a 2008 black Dodge van. The van had been returned to the car rental agency on May 31 by the previous renter.

June 1

  • Anthony Huser, 38, of Elizabeth was arrested at the Essex County jail on several outstanding warrants. The warrants include one from the Westfield court in the amount of $1,500, one from Plainfield in the amount of $938, North Plainfield in the amount of $1,100 and Elizabeth in the amount of $1,430. Huser was placed in the custody of the Union County sheriff.
  • A Prospect Street resident reported the theft of a bicycle.
  • Joseph Campauaro, 20, of Scotch Plains, was arrested on the 1000 block of North Avenue West for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, during a motor vehicle stop. He was released on a summons.

May 31

  • A Boulevard resident reported that a unchained bicycle was stolen on the south side of the train station.
  • A resident of Ayciffe reported the theft of a bicycle. This bicycle theft occurred within 20 minutes of the one at the train station.
  • Vernon Taliaferro, 34, of Elizabeth was arrested on the 300 block of Brightwood on a motor vehicle stop for a $250 Elizabeth court warrant.
  • Harry Nool-Jewp, 19, of Union was arrested on the 200 block of South Avenue West for an outstanding $100 warrant from the Westfield court.
  • Feliciana Bureos, 44, of Weehawken was arrested on the 300 block of South Avenue East during a motor vehicle stop on a $100 warrant out of Union City court.

May 30

  • Gregory Defreitaslee, 44, of Westfield was arrested on the 500 block of South Avenue West on a $500 warrant from Westfield court.
  • Kristina Lorene, 32, of Cranford, was arrested on the 600 block of North Avenue West for shoplifting. She was released on a summons.

May 29

  • Joseph Parente, 31, of Mountainside was arrested for DWI at a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Britney. He was charged with the possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released to the custody of a sober adult.
  • Joseph Evebs, 30, of Plainfield, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on the 500 block of North Avenue East on a Plainfield warrant.
