Police Blotter: Drug and Warrant Arrests in Town

Officers deal with routine arrests.

The Westfield Police tackled a wide range of routine arrests during the week, including several relating to drugs and outstanding warrants from Westfield and other jurisdictions. In addition, police arrested one individual who was originally identified in a call as suspicious.

Aug. 18

  • Robert Weythmon, 32, of Red Bank, was arrested for the possession of drug paraphernalia after a motor vehicle stop.

  • Leslie Boughner, 55, of Westfield was arrested and charged with second degree aggravated assault in connection with a pedestrian accident in front of Lord & Taylor on Aug. 5.
  • Jasmine Bailey of Elizabeth was arrested on a Westfield warrant.
  • Kevin Garmony of Irvington was arrested on a Westfield warrant.
  • Jessica White of Westfield was arrested on a Westfield warrant.

Aug. 20

  • Maurice Singley, 30, of Plainfield was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of East Broad and Prospect.

  • Jorge Alvacz, 18, of Roselle was arrested on a $280 warrant from Elizabeth. After consultation with Elizabeth police he was released.
  • Lily Hershkowitz, 23, of Linden was arrested on a $135 warrant from Oakland. She posted bail and was released.
  • John Nunez, 47, of Plainfield was arrested for hindering apprehension after a call about a suspicious person. An investigation showed that Nunez had two warrants from Plainfield for $2,000 and North Plainfield for $1,000. Bail was set at $5,000, which Nunez could not pay. He was transported to the Union County jail.
  • Oscar Perez, 26, of Rahway was arrested on a $900 Rahway warrant after a motor vehicle stop.

Aug. 23

  • Michael Tullo of Westfield was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop.
  • Omar A. Pena, 19, of Bound Brook was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana after a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Central Avenue and Frazee Court, where a DWI checkpoint was set up.

Aug. 24

  • Willie Brook of Paterson was arrested for a Galloway Township warrant following a motor vehicle stop.
