Police Blotter: Downtown Office Burglarized

A look at the week in police activity.

A downtown office was burglarized this week, resulting in the theft of several computers, a fax machine and microwave. The case is under investigation.

March 21

Jasen A. Rao, 27, of Linden was arrested for DWI on the 1500 block of Lamberts Mill Road. During an investigation, a switchblade knife was found in the subject's pocket. He was transported to police headquarters and charged with DWI and possession of a prohibited weapon. He was processed and released.

Christian J. Janampa, 31, of Elizabeth was arrested during a traffic stop at North and Crossway on an Elizabeth warrant. He was processed and released.

There was a report of criminal mischief to three vehicles while they were parked in a parking lot on the 300 block of Clark Street. Three tires were destroyed on the cars by sharp objects and it is reported the incident occurred on March 17 between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

A resident of the 100 block of East Broad Street reported a burglary to their business office on the 200 block of Prospect Street. Access was gained through by breaking a single window pane on a side window and opening the lock. Once inside, the actor(s) ransacked several desks and removed four Dell computers, a Brother fax machine and a Sharp microwave. The value of the theft is $2900.

March 22

Walter T. Allen, 49, of Westfield was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle stop at Rahway and Washington. He was processed and released.

Dajon E. Semidey, 27, of Maplewood was arrested on a $377 Scotch Plains warrant and a $308 Maplewood warrant following a motor vehicle stop at North and Clark.
