Police Blotter: Chatham Resident Charged with DWI, Bike Stolen from Train Station

A look at the week in police activity.

A Chatham resident was arrested on DWI, while a resident reported that their son's bike was stolen from the South Avenue train station parking lot during a week of police activity. The police also responded to a series of warrant arrests, including several warrants from Westfield. 

Aug. 26

Miguel D. Carinhas, 29, was arrested at police headquarters on a $178 Westfield warrant. He posted bail and was released.

Alexiz Gonzalez, 25, of Plainfield was arrested on warrants from Westfield and Scotch Plains. He was processed and released.

Benjamin Thomas, 21, of Poughouog, NY was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on the 200 block of South Avenue West on a $106 Westfield warrant, a $290 Mountainside warrant and a $81 Mountainside warrant. He was processed and released.

A resident of the 600 block of Lawnside Place reported an incident of identity theft.

Aug. 30

Nine Scepanovic, 25, of Chatham was arrested on DWI and refusal to submit to a breath rest as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Central Avenue near Myrtle. He was transported to headquarters, processed and released.

Aug. 31

A resident of Fair Hill Road reported a glass kitchen window being broken as the result of criminal mischief.

Sept. 1

Courtney E. Orlick, 24, of Clark reported to police headquarters to satisfy a Westfield ATS warrant in the amount of $153. He was processed and released.

A Westfield resident reported the theft of their son's BMX style bike from the South Avenue train station parking lot on Aug. 31 between 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. The bike's value is $200.
