Police Blotter: Car Window Smashed, Rollarblades Found

A look at the week in crime.

Police on patrol found a car window smashed in and responded to a pair of rollerblades that were not part of an accident during the course of the past week.

April 29

  • Geoffrey Pridgen, 51, of Piscataway was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant from Piscataway during a motor vehicle stop.
  • Carlton Lawson, 20, of Newark was arrested on a Westfield warrant. He was picked up at the Cranford police department and was unable to post $663 in bail. He was transported to the county jail.

May 1

  • Kevin E. Slattery, 31, of Westfield was arrested during a traffic stop at the intersection of North Avenue East and South Chestnut Street on two Westfield warrants totaling $145. He posted bail.
  • A resident of Scotch Plains turned in a camera found in Mindowaskin Park. The camera was a silver and blue Canon Powershot. It was found inside a black and gray case. It is being held in the police locker.

May 2

  • Patrol noticed a driver's side window smashed on a car parked on the 600 block of West Broad Street. The owner was contacted and confirmed that the damage was new. It occurred between 9 p.m. on May 1 and 1:25 a.m. on May 2. Nothing appeared to be stolen.
  • A Hamilton Township resident reported criminal mischief to their car parked on the 500 block of Prospect Street.

  • There was a report of a possible accident in the area of Kimball and North Euclid. After patrol arrived there was no sign of an accident but the officer located a pair of rollerblades the caller reported. They may be abandoned. The police were unable to locate the owner. The rollerblades were described as a children's size three, black in color and made by Aerowheels. They were in poor condition and stored in the property locker.
