Police Blotter: Car Stolen and More Graffiti

Police respond to various crimes, including vandalism to granite slab.

The Westfield Police remained busy over the Labor Day holiday with a series of crimes occurring in town. These include a car theft, a missing bicycle and graffiti on several street signs.

Sept. 1

  • Faatina McCleage, 33, of Newark was arrested during a traffic stop at South Avenue East and Elmer Street. He was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Harrison in the amount of $1199. He was also issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended drivers licence.
  • Vincent Irving, 58, of Orange was arrested on a $167 warrant from Westfield. He was unable to post bail and was held pending a court session. He was also processed on a $125 warrant from Newark.

  • Nicholas Gerachi, 22, of Manalapan reported to the Westfield police to be arrested on a $250 warrant from Point Pleasent. He was released after paying bail.
  • Colin MacKay, 20, of Westfield was arrested during a traffic stop at the south side train station on two warrants. The warrants were a $500 one from Seaside Heights and a $239 one from Orange. He was also given a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and a seatbelt violation.
  • Several traffic signs were vandalized in the area of Codding Road and Lynwood. The graffiti was in the form of black and orange paint.
  • Everett Martin, 50, of Elizabeth was arrested during a traffic stop at Mountain Avenue and Colonial Avenue on two warrants from Jersey City. He posted $192 bail and was given a summons for operating a motor vehicle without an insurance.
  • Brandon West, 20, of Westfield was arrested during a stop on East Broad Street and Woodland Avenue. for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Sept. 3

  • Stephen Mitchel of Plainfield was arrested on a Piscataway warrant and possession of marijuana. He was processed and released to Piscataway police.

  • A resident of the 500 block of Bradford Avenue reported the theft of a motor vehicle from their driveway. The car was last seen the night before in the driveway.
  • Siobhan Skerrett, 25, of Linden on a $99 Westfield warrant was arrested following a motor vehicle stop at South Avenue and West Broad Street.
  • A resident on the 700 block of Hyslip Avenue reported criminal mischief to their car while it was parked in the driveway. Scratches were found to the front passenger door and the rear quarter panel.
  • Yolanda Rowe, 50, of Plainfield was arrested for shoplifting from the Stop n Shop.
  • Nikolas S. Bitsckalis, 22, of Morganville was arrested at a DWI checkpoint on the 600 block of North Avenue West for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana.

Sept. 5

  • Stephen P. Onorio, 23, and Patricia Lacey, 21, of Staten Island were arrested at a DWI checkpoint in 600 block of North Avenue West and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lacey was also charged with possession of a prescription legend drug without a prescription.
  • Roman Buchak, 24, of Westfield was arrested for two warrants from Elizabeth.
  • A business owner on the 200 block of East Grove Street reported criminal mischief to a slab of granite and a sheet of cement. The amount of damage is unknown.

Sept. 6

  • A resident of the 500 block of Terrace Place reported the theft of a bike from the front of the Windmill. The bike was unchained at the time. Valued at $400, the bike is a white, GT BMX with gold handles.
  • Jamal J. Taylor, 20, of Moorestown was arrested on a $125 Newark warrant during a traffic stop on the 500 block of West Broad Street.
  • Kevin Jacobs-Persano, 19, of Morristown was arrested on a $500 Morris Township warrant during a motor vehicle stop on the 500 block of West Broad Street.

Sept. 7

  • Kevin Sheridan, 38, of the Vauxhall section of Union Township was arrested on a $150 Maplewood warrant. He had been stopped for speeding on East Broad Street and North Chestnut Street. He was given a summons for driving without a driver's license.
