Police Blotter: Burglaries Reported; Skateboard Stolen

A look at the week in police activity.

Two burglaries and the possible theft of a skateboard in the downtown top police activity in the past week. In one of the burglaries a resident returning from vacation reported the theft, while in the other a resident reported jewelry missing.

March 3

Sean P. Horton, 25, was arrested during a traffic stop on a Garwood warrant in the amount of $89. He posted bail and was released.

A resident of Stanhope Place reported that his home was burglarized while he was away on vacation between Feb. 19 and March 3. The incident is under investigation.

March 4

Andrew Fleming, 39, of Elizabeth was arrested on the 700 block of South Avenue for a Rahway warrant. He was processed and released.

Janice S. Honymar, 57, of Westfield came to the police department to be arrested on a $400 Garwood warrant. She posted bail and was released.

A Westfield resident reported the left of a skateboard from a business on the 100 block of East Broad Street. The victim said he forgot the skateboard at the business and when he returned 15 minutes later it was missing or stolen. The skateboard is described as a Layback Long Board with a picture of a volcano on the bottom. It is valued at $117.

March 5

Vincent Tomasso Jr., 24, of Westfield was arrested for DWI at the intersection of Forest and Longfellow. The suspect was transported to police hedquarters, processed and released.

Raymond J. Gigl III, 19, of Somerville was arrested of a $509 Westfield warrant. He was processed and posted bail.

Rosann Dacosta-Levy, 45, of Union Township was arrested for shoplifting on the 600 block of North Avenue. She was transported to headquarters for processing. She is accused of taking $611 in jewelry.

Dennis Broughton, 43, of Westfield was arrested for DWI on the 1500 block of Lamberts Mill Road. He was processed and released.

March 7

Italo Fernandez, 30, of Hillside was arrested on the strength of a Newark warrant. He was processed and released.

Lavon Wave, 40, of Elizabeth was arrested on the strength of Newark and Elizabeth warrants. He was processed and released.

A resident of the 700 block of Clark Street reported that unknown persons gained entry to their car and stole a GPS unit.

March 9

Aceen McRay, 20, of Westfield was arrested on warrants from Cranford, Seaside Heights and Mountainside. He was taken to the Union County Jail.

March 10

There was a burglary by forced entry reported at a residence on the 200 block of Sylvania Place. An undetermined value of jewelry was reported stolen.
