Police Blotter: Bikes Stolen, Cars Vandalized, Runaway Found

A look at the week in police activity.

Police responded to a series of bikes being stolen at two schools, along with criminal mischief to two cars parked on the 800 block of Lawrence Avenue. A teen runaway previously reported missing from a south side home was reported to be found and reunited with her guardians.

May 5

  • Jeffrey Phillips, 24, of Union Township was arrested at police headquarters on a $1,000 Westfild warrant.
  • Michael Massa, 39, of Linden was arrested at South Avenue and Westfield Avenue during a motor vehicle stop on a $250 Elizabeth warrant. He posted bail and was released.

  • Charles Laskowski, 25, of Scotch Plains was arrested for possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia during a motor vehicle stop at Central Avenue and Virginia Street.

May 7

  • Damian Williams, 33, of Elizabeth was arrested on Westfield and Scotch Plains warrants. He was unable to post bail and transported to the county jail.

  • Jeff Paulin, 29, was arrested at the state police barracks in Bloomfield on a Westfield warrant. He posted $52 in bail.
  • A resident of the 800 block of Lawrence Avenue reported criminal mischief to their car in the middle of the night.
  • Edward T. Nugent III, 18, of Westfield was arrested on the 400 block of Central Avenue on a Westfield warrant. He posted $500 in bail.
  • A resident of Clark reported the theft of a recently purchased pocketbook and wallet from a store on the 100 block of East Broad Street. The black Coach purse and black Coach wallet were valued at $400. They were left on the floor of a business and when the resident returned to the store, the items were gone.
  • A resident of the 800 block of Bradford Avenue reported the left of a bike from in front of Wilson School. The bike was unsecured and valued at $100.
  • A resident of the 0-80 block of Blackburn Road reported an act of criminal mischief to their car while it was parked on the 800 block of Lawrence Avenue. The front driver's side window was smashed out with an unknown object.

May 10

  • A 17-year old juvenile runaway was located and reunited with her guardians.

May 11

  • Min Zheng, 53, of Westfield was arrested on the 600 block of North Avenue West.
  • A resident turned in a Bank of America debit card found in the area of the PNC Bank. The bank was contacted and the card secured.
  • A Westfield juvenile and parent reported the theft of a bike from Edison Intermediate School between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The bike was described as a BMX style, 24 inch frame, Colombia, brown with green circles. The chain was stolen as well.

May 12

  • Damian Williamson, 33, of Elizabeth was arrested on a Scotch Plains court warrant.
