Police Blotter: Car Break-Ins Continue

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

August 4 – A resident of the 100 block of Marlboro Street reported a burglary and theft to their motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the victim’s driveway and was unlocked at the time of the incident, which occurred between 9:30 p.m. on August 3 and 4:30 p.m. on August 4. At the time of the report, it was unknown if any items from the vehicle were missing.

A resident of Webster Place reported a burglary and theft from two of the victim’s motor vehicles. Suspect(s) entered a detached unlocked garage and stole two GPS units from the garage. The incident occurred between 1:30 and 9:00 a.m. on August 4. The approximate value of the stolen property is $300.

A brown-colored wallet was located on the street in front of 609 W. North Avenue. The wallet contained miscellaneous credit cards, some cash and a New Jersey identification.

August 5 – Tadd Spencer, 28, of Plainfield, was arrested on the strength of an active ATS warrant issued by Fanwood Municipal Court in the amount of $187. The arrest was made pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on the 900 block of W. South Avenue. Spencer was transported to headquarters, processed and released after posting bail.

A business on the 100 block of Quimby Street reported a burglary and theft that occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on August 5. The approximate value of the stolen property is $100. The matter is under investigation.

A resident of the 200 block of Hazel Avenue reported a burglary and theft to their shed. Suspect(s) entered the unlocked shed in the victim’s rear yard and stole a silver trek hybrid road bicycle valued at approximately $600. The incident occurred between 8 p.m. on August 4 and 5:58 p.m. on August 5.

A resident of the 900 block of Boulevard reported a burglary and theft to their motor vehicle while it was parked in front of their residence. Unknown suspect(s) entered unsecured vehicle and removed $60 in cash and a pair of designer sunglasses. The approximate value of the stolen property is $160. There are no suspects at this time.

An unknown party reported two abandoned bicycles along the curb of the 1000 block of Tice Place. One was a grey Schwinn 10-speed girl’s bicycle. The other was a green Iron Horse BMX-style boy’s bicycle. Both bicycles were in poor condition and are being stored at the police department’s traffic bureau.

August 10 – Anthony Scaturro, 32, responded to Westfield Police Department to satisfy an active traffic warrant issued by Westfield Municipal Court in the amount of $110. Scaturro was processed and released.

August 11 – A resident of the 600 block reported being victim of criminal mischief. Unknown suspect(s) damaged a chair located in the rear yard of the residence.

Elimer Curtis, 19, of Irvington, was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant for his arrest issued by Neptune Municipal Court in the amount of $114. Curtis was processed and released on his own recognizance with a new court date.
