Police Blotter: Arrests Follow Motor Vehicle Stops

John's Law Enforced in DWI Arrest.

June 9

  • Edward English of Clark was arrested for DWI following a motor vehicle stop in town. His car was towed and impounded under the terms of John's Law. John's Law was passed in 2001 and mandates that the vehicles of those arrested for DWI be impounded for a period of 12 hours.

June 10

  • Thomas Wanshaw of Scotch Plains was arrested during a motor vehicle stop on Central Avenue and Sussex Street for a warrant in Scotch Plains.
  • Shakira Hammonds of Linden was arrested during a motor vehicle stop for the possession of marijuana. She was released and has a July 2 court date.
  • William Matas of Fanwood was arrested during a motor vehicle stop for a warrant from the Union County sheriff's department.

  • Emmanuel Balblum of Elizabeth was arrested following a motor vehicle stop at South Avenue and Livingston on a warrant from the Union County sheriff's department.

June 15

  • Salvator Fazio of Westfield was arrested following a motor vehicle stop at Central Avenue and Vernon Place on a warrant from Ridgefield Park.
  • A business on the 100 block of Quimby reported graffiti on the exterior brick.
  • Edward Wittel of Westfield was arrested as a result of a suspicious vehicle investigation. The arrest was for possession of 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
