Westfield Police Make Arrests for DUI, Shoplifting

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

April 12 – Sherry Li, 45, of East Brunswick, was arrested at the Lord and Taylor department store on North Avenue for shoplifting. Further investigation revealed that Li was in possession of burglary tools. She was transported to headquarters, processed and released on her own recognizance on a summons.

April 13 – James Heffernan, 21, of Scotch Plains, responded to the to satisfy two warrants. One was issued by the Westfield Municipal Court ($139) and one was issued by the Fanwood Municipal Court ($149). Heffernan was processed and released after posting full cash bail for both warrants.

Darnell Daniels-Murphy was arrested at Essex County Jail on an outstanding traffic warrant issued by the Westfield Municipal Court ($400). Subject also had outstanding warrants issued by the Union Police Department ($250) and Hillside Police Department ($215). Subject was transported to the Westfield Police Department, processed and committed to Union County Jail in lieu of bail.

Timothy Dohm, 24, of Westfield, was arrested on an outstanding ATS (Automated Traffic System) warrant issued by Scotch Plains Municipal Court ($110). Dohm was processed and released on posted bail.

Francis Smith, 40, of Cranford, was arrested for possession of CDS/marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on Woodland Avenue near Kimball Avenue. Smith was transported to headquarters, processed and released on his own recognizance with a court date at the Westfield Municipal Court.

A resident residing on the 800 block of Shackamaxon Drive reported that unknown suspect(s) removed a pair of earrings from a residence. The value of the earrings was $3,000.

April 14 – Virginia DeWitt, 53, of Westfield, was arrested on an outstanding ACS (Automated Complaint System) warrant issued by the Garwood Municipal Court ($500) and an outstanding ACS warrant issued by the Clark Municipal Court ($467) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on the 700 block of Central Avenue. DeWitt was transported to headquarters, processed and released on her own recognizance on both warrants.

Shelby Williams, 44, of Montclair, was arrested on an outstanding ATS warrant issued by the Westfield Municipal Court ($500) and on an outstanding ATS warrant issued by Orange Municipal Court pursuant to a pick-up at the Union Police Department. Williams was transported, processed and placed in cell #1 in lieu of bail.

A resident of Garwood reported being the victim of a theft while attending an event at Gumbert Park. Unknown actor stole a wallet which contained numerous credit cards, a New Jersey driving license and $50 cash.

April 15 – Daniel Murphy, 41, of Westfield, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated pursuant to an investigation on the 400 block of Springfield Avenue. Murphy was transported to headquarters, processed and placed in cell #2.

April 16 – Donald Sabile, 41, of Colonia, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated pursuant to an investigation on the 500 block Boulevard. Sabile was transported to headquarters, processed and released to a responsible adult.

April 18 – Marvin Palmer, 28, of Plainfield, was arrested on an outstanding warrant issued by Fanwood Municipal Court pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at North Avenue and Charles Street. Palmer posted $143 bail and was released.
