Police Blotter: Burglars Steal $35K in Kitchenware

The following information was obtained from the Westfield Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Jan. 17: Ronald Priliszh, 60, of Staten Island, N.Y. was arrested and charged with shoplifting $50 worth of merchandise from a business on the 600 block of West North Avenue. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released with a summons.

Jan. 18: Gualberto Gamarra-Villanuev, 35, of Bound Brook was arrested on a no-bail sheriff’s warrant from Somerset County and an outstanding $89 traffic warrant from Bridgewater pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at the north side train station parking lot. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and turned over to Somerset County police in lieu of posted bail.

Gualberto Servian, 38, of Bound Brook was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension of one's self and an outstanding $500 traffic warrant from North Plainfield pursuant to a motor vehicle stop at the north side train station parking lot. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on posted bail for the warrant. Servian also posted $500 bail on the hindering apprehension charge.

A burglary was reported at a residence on the 100 block of Marion Avenue, which occurred sometime between December 15 and January 16, while the residence had been vacated. Entry was gained through an unsecured rear door. Kitchen cabinets, a center island with a granite top, a refrigerator, a stove, a range hood and a bathroom sink with brass faucets were removed. The approximate total value of the theft is $35,000.

Jan. 19: A black-and- silver-colored iPhone was turned in to police headquarters after it was found in the rear yard of a residence on the 100 block of East Grove Street.

Jan. 20: Hector Saldana-Paez, 25, of Westfield was arrested and charged with DWI (driving while intoxicated) pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on the 100 block of East Broad Street. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released to a responsible adult.

Jan. 21: Brice Freeman, 35, of Linden was arrestd on an outstanding warrant at Maplewood Police Department. Freeman posted $500 bail and was released.

Jan. 22: Angel Ordonez-Jimenez, 37, of Elizabeth was arrested on an outstanding Westfield Municipal Court warrant in the amount of $500 following a motor vehicle stop at South Avenue and Livingston Street. He posted bail and was released.

The thiefs literally took everything but the kitchen sink. How is it possible that their neighbors didn't see this happening?
