Police Arrest Burglary Suspect

Wayman says arrest not tied to burglary ring.

Westfield Police on Monday arrested Aljandro Bautista, 23, of Westfield on several charges including burglary. The police said Bautista is not suspected of being a part of the other burglaries in town.

The arrest came from an investigation into an attempted burglary on the 500 block of Carleton Road. The charges against Bautista include burglary, theft and criminal mischief. Police Captain David Wayman said Bautista is currently not a suspect in the other burglaries that have occurred in Westfield and that his case does not appear to be connected to the other burglaries.

Last week, Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow announced that his office is investigating a group tied to at least four Westfield burglaries, along with burglaries in other western Union County towns along the Route 78 corridor. Not all of the recent burglaries in town are tied to the burglary ring that the prosecutor's office is looking for.
